Honeycomb ground is worked with two pairs at a time. Start by working a half stitch. Then, twist the left-hand pair once, and twist the right-hand pair once. Put up a pin between the two pairs. Then close the pin by working a half stitch and twisting both pairs one more time.
Put differently: cross, twist, twist, pin, cross, twist, twist.
Or put in yet another way: half stitch, twist, pin, halfstitch, twist.
The video below demonstrates how to work honeycomb ground.
